Withdrawal Policy

The Fari Journal of Social Sciences and Law is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and transparency. This Withdrawal Policy outlines the procedures and conditions under which an author may request the withdrawal of their manuscript during the submission, peer review, or post-publication stages.

1. Withdrawal Before Peer Review

  • Requesting Withdrawal: Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript at any time before the peer review process begins. The request for withdrawal should be submitted via email to the editorial team, stating the reason for the withdrawal and confirming the decision to remove the manuscript from consideration.
  • Procedure: If the manuscript has not yet been assigned to reviewers or entered the review process, the manuscript will be withdrawn promptly, and the author will receive confirmation of this decision.
  • Consequences: No fees are associated with the withdrawal of manuscripts at this stage. However, the author should ensure that the manuscript has not been submitted to another journal simultaneously to avoid potential issues of duplicate submission.

2. Withdrawal During Peer Review

  • Requesting Withdrawal: If the manuscript has already been sent for peer review but the author decides to withdraw the manuscript, they must inform the editorial team immediately. The request should be sent in writing, and the author should explain the reason for the withdrawal.
  • Procedure: Once the manuscript is under review, the editorial team will notify the reviewers of the withdrawal and ensure that no further work is done on the manuscript. The manuscript will be removed from the review process.
  • Consequences: If the manuscript has already been reviewed or feedback has been provided, the author may still withdraw the manuscript, but they must acknowledge the reviewer's work and efforts. No fee will be refunded for manuscripts withdrawn during peer review.

3. Withdrawal After Acceptance, Before Publication

  • Requesting Withdrawal: If the manuscript has been accepted for publication but the author wishes to withdraw it before the final publication process begins (such as before proofs or final formatting), they should contact the editorial team as soon as possible.
  • Procedure: The editorial team will acknowledge the withdrawal request and confirm that the article will not proceed to publication. If the manuscript has been assigned to production or is in the proofing stage, the withdrawal request will be handled accordingly.
  • Consequences: Once a manuscript is accepted, and especially if production has started, there may be non-refundable charges incurred by the journal. In cases where the article has been processed or proofed, a partial refund may be considered, based on the work completed. However, full refunds will not be given.

4. Withdrawal After Publication

  • Requesting Withdrawal: After an article has been published online or in print, withdrawal is only allowed under exceptional circumstances, such as:
    • Ethical concerns (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification, or misconduct discovered post-publication).
    • Substantial errors or inaccuracies in the published content that significantly alter the article’s findings.
    • Violations of copyright or legal issues.
  • Procedure: If the author identifies a serious issue after publication, they must contact the editorial team immediately. The editorial team will assess the situation and may issue a retraction notice if necessary. A retraction notice will explain the reasons for withdrawal and ensure transparency with the readers.
  • Consequences: If the article is retracted after publication, it will remain available in the journal’s archives but will be clearly marked as retracted, with the reason for the retraction provided. The retraction notice will be published alongside the article. Authors will not receive a refund for articles published.

5. Ethical Considerations in Withdrawal

  • The Fari Journal of Social Sciences and Law expects authors to make withdrawal decisions responsibly and ethically. Withdrawal requests should not be made to avoid unfavorable reviews, editorial decisions, or potential criticism of the work.
  • If the author decides to withdraw the manuscript after feedback has been provided, they are expected to communicate in a professional manner and acknowledge any concerns raised during the review process.
  • The journal’s editorial team will assess the withdrawal request based on the reasoning provided and the stage at which the manuscript has progressed. Authors must adhere to ethical guidelines when requesting withdrawal, including respecting the time and efforts of reviewers.

6. Author Responsibilities

  • Authors are expected to communicate their intention to withdraw promptly and provide detailed reasoning for the withdrawal. This ensures that the editorial team can manage the manuscript and avoid unnecessary processing delays or confusion.
  • In cases where a manuscript is withdrawn, the author is responsible for ensuring that the work is not simultaneously submitted to another journal or publisher during the same period.

7. Multiple Withdrawal Requests

  • The Fari Journal of Social Sciences and Law does not typically allow multiple withdrawals of the same manuscript. If an author has withdrawn a manuscript, the decision is considered final, and the manuscript will not be reconsidered for publication in the journal.
  • Repeated withdrawal requests may lead to restrictions on future submissions by the author, at the discretion of the editorial board.

8. Notification of Withdrawal

  • Once a withdrawal request is confirmed, the author will receive an official notification acknowledging the withdrawal, and the manuscript will be removed from the journal’s system and archives.
  • If the manuscript has already been reviewed, all reviewers will be informed of the withdrawal to avoid unnecessary work on their part.

9. Policy Review

  • This Withdrawal Policy is subject to periodic review to ensure that it aligns with best practices in academic publishing and addresses any emerging ethical considerations.
  • Any updates to the policy will be communicated to authors and stakeholders via the journal’s website and official channels.

By adhering to this Withdrawal Policy, the Fari Journal of Social Sciences and Law ensures that authors, reviewers, and editorial teams follow fair and transparent processes when withdrawing manuscripts. This policy maintains the journal’s integrity and promotes ethical conduct in scholarly publishing.
