Publication Ethics

The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all aspects of its publishing process. This Publication Ethics policy outlines the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and the journal’s editorial board in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct of all published research.

1. Authorship and Acknowledgment

  • Authorship: Authors should only be those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All authors should be appropriately listed in the manuscript, and each should have reviewed and approved the final version.
  • Acknowledgments: Authors must acknowledge all individuals, organizations, or funding sources that contributed to the research or manuscript preparation. This includes mentioning the sources of financial support or other assistance in the appropriate section of the manuscript.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their submissions are original and have not been published elsewhere or under consideration for publication in any other journal.
  • Any material borrowed from other sources, including data, text, or images, must be properly cited. Plagiarism in all its forms is unacceptable, and any instance of plagiarism detected will result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript.
  • Authors should avoid self-plagiarism, meaning reusing significant portions of their previously published work without appropriate citation.

3. Research Integrity and Ethics

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with ethical standards, especially in cases involving human or animal subjects. Research should adhere to institutional or national ethical guidelines, and authors must submit evidence of ethical approval when required.
  • In cases where data are not publicly available, authors should provide a justification for withholding the data and ensure that results are reported truthfully and transparently.
  • Fabrication, falsification of data, and manipulation of images or results are strictly prohibited.

4. Conflict of Interest

  • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their objectivity. Conflicts of interest may include financial relationships, personal relationships, or other affiliations that could be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts in the manuscript submission process, and reviewers should also disclose conflicts that may affect their evaluation of the manuscript.

5. Peer Review and Editorial Process

  • The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartial and unbiased evaluation of manuscripts. Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on their scientific merit, originality, clarity, and contribution to the field.
  • Editors make decisions based on the recommendations of reviewers, but they must also consider the ethical standards of the journal, such as the integrity of the research and the adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Editors should not be involved in the review or decision-making process for manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.

6. Transparency and Accountability

  • The editorial board is committed to transparency in the decision-making process. All decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, rejection, or revision are based on the merit of the research and the review process.
  • If an ethical issue or mistake is discovered in a published article (e.g., errors in data, ethics violations, etc.), the journal will promptly issue a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, depending on the severity of the issue.
  • If any misconduct or ethical violations are detected during the review process, the manuscript will be rejected, and the case may be reported to the appropriate institution or governing body.

7. Confidentiality

  • All parties involved in the publication process, including editors, reviewers, and authors, must respect confidentiality. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are confidential and should not be shared with others unless required for the peer review process or to investigate ethical concerns.
  • Editors and reviewers are not allowed to use information from unpublished manuscripts for personal or professional gain.

8. Responsibility for Manuscript Submission

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is properly formatted according to the journal’s guidelines and that all co-authors agree on the content and authorship before submission.
  • Authors should be prepared to respond to reviewer feedback, revise their manuscripts accordingly, and ensure that all necessary corrections or clarifications are made.

9. Retraction and Corrections

  • The journal reserves the right to retract any article that is found to have been published in violation of ethical standards or due to serious errors such as data falsification or plagiarism.
  • In cases where minor errors or omissions are found after publication, the journal will issue a correction. Retractions will be accompanied by a retraction notice explaining the reasons for the article’s removal from the journal.

10. Publication of Special Issues

  • For special issues, guest editors are subject to the same ethical standards as the journal's editorial team. Special issue manuscripts are subjected to the same peer review process and must adhere to the same ethical guidelines.
  • Guest editors are responsible for ensuring that all invited manuscripts meet the journal’s standards for originality, accuracy, and ethical conduct.

11. Appeals Process

  • Authors who disagree with a decision (e.g., rejection or revision) may submit a formal appeal to the editorial board. The appeal will be reviewed by senior editorial members, and the decision will be communicated in a timely manner.
  • The editorial board will carefully consider the appeal, but the final decision will be based on the editorial and peer review process.

12. Ethical Guidelines Compliance

  • The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and other relevant ethical publishing standards.
  • Any breach of the journal's ethical guidelines, including instances of plagiarism, data falsification, or unethical behavior, will be handled in accordance with COPE’s principles, ensuring fair and consistent actions.

13. Policy Review

  • This Publication Ethics policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it reflects best practices in scholarly publishing and is aligned with evolving ethical standards.
  • Any updates or changes to the policy will be communicated to authors, editors, and reviewers through the journal’s website and official communication channels.

By adhering to this Publication Ethics policy, the Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies ensures that the research it publishes maintains the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct, promoting trust and credibility in scholarly publishing.
