Plagiarism Policy

The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. This Plagiarism Policy ensures that all manuscripts submitted to the journal are free from plagiarism and properly attribute the work of others. The journal is committed to maintaining a rigorous, transparent, and responsible approach to the publication process.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's work, ideas, or intellectual property without proper attribution. This includes:
    • Copying text, data, or images without citation.
    • Reusing substantial portions of one’s own previous work (self-plagiarism) without acknowledgment.
    • Presenting someone else's work as one’s own or failing to appropriately cite sources.
  • Plagiarism can involve direct copying, paraphrasing without citation, or reproducing figures, tables, or images without permission or proper credit.

2. Plagiarism Detection

  • All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks using reputable plagiarism detection tools (such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or others) before they are considered for publication.
  • The editorial team checks for textual similarities with previously published works, including books, journals, websites, and other sources.
  • Manuscripts found to have significant overlap with previously published work, without proper citation or permission, will be flagged for further investigation.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

  • If plagiarism is detected during the submission or review process, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. In cases where plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted from the journal, and a formal retraction notice will be published.
  • Authors found to have committed plagiarism may be banned from submitting to the Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies in the future.
  • The journal will take appropriate action to address instances of plagiarism, which may include notifying the author’s institution, sponsors, or other relevant parties.

4. Self-Plagiarism

  • Self-plagiarism occurs when authors reuse portions of their own previously published work without proper citation or attribution. This is considered unethical and is treated in the same manner as plagiarism from other sources.
  • Authors are required to disclose any prior publication of their work when submitting a manuscript. If sections of a manuscript have been previously published, the author must properly reference the prior work and explain how it differs or contributes to the current submission.

5. Author Responsibilities

  • Citations and References: Authors are responsible for properly citing all sources, data, and ideas that are not their own. This includes not only direct quotations but also paraphrased ideas and concepts.
  • Acknowledging Collaborations: Proper attribution must be made for any collaborative contributions, whether from co-authors, external reviewers, or data sources.
  • Honesty in Data Reporting: Authors must also ensure that the data presented in their articles is accurate, honest, and verifiable. Fabrication or falsification of data is strictly prohibited and will be subject to the same penalties as plagiarism.

6. Handling of Suspected Plagiarism

  • If plagiarism is suspected, the Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies will take the following steps:
    • The manuscript will be returned to the author with a request for clarification or revision.
    • If plagiarism is confirmed, the author will be notified and provided with the opportunity to respond to the allegations.
    • If the response is unsatisfactory or if the author fails to address the plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected or retracted.
    • The journal may also notify the author’s institution or funding body about the findings, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

7. Prevention and Education

  • The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies aims to educate authors about plagiarism and the importance of proper citation. The journal provides guidelines and resources for authors on how to avoid plagiarism and adhere to best practices in academic writing.
  • Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection tools and other resources to check their work before submission to the journal.

8. Ethical Guidelines and Compliance

  • The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies follows the ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other relevant organizations. These standards provide guidance on handling ethical issues such as plagiarism and research misconduct.
  • The journal maintains transparency and fairness in addressing plagiarism and ensures that all decisions related to plagiarism are consistent and based on clear evidence.
