Withdrawal Policy

The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. This Withdrawal Policy outlines the process and conditions under which an author can request the withdrawal of a manuscript after submission or during the review process.

1. Requesting a Manuscript Withdrawal

  • Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript at any stage before publication (including before or after acceptance) by submitting a formal request to the editorial team.
  • The request for withdrawal must be sent via email to the journal’s official contact address, with a clear statement of the reason for withdrawal.
  • Authors are encouraged to include their manuscript ID, title, and any additional identifying information when submitting their request to ensure swift processing.

2. Conditions for Withdrawal

  • Manuscripts may be withdrawn at any time prior to formal acceptance (e.g., before the final editorial decision is made) without further obligation or impact on the authors’ future submissions to the journal.
  • Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, the decision to withdraw the manuscript will be evaluated carefully. Authors may still request withdrawal, but they should understand that:
    • If the article is already in the final stages of production (e.g., proofing or scheduled for publication), the request to withdraw may not be granted unless there are compelling reasons.
    • Withdrawal requests after acceptance may be subject to a penalty, including but not limited to a waiting period before the author can submit to the same journal again, depending on the situation.

3. Withdrawal During Peer Review

  • Authors may withdraw their manuscript during the peer review process. If the manuscript has been sent for review but has not yet received feedback, the withdrawal request will be promptly processed.
  • If the manuscript is under review, authors should be aware that the reviewers’ time and feedback will be respected. A formal notice of withdrawal will be communicated to the reviewers, and the manuscript will be removed from consideration.

4. Post-Acceptance Withdrawal

  • If the manuscript has already been accepted but not yet published, authors may request withdrawal for significant reasons such as ethical concerns, conflicting interests, or personal reasons.
  • Authors must notify the editorial team of their intention to withdraw in writing, and the withdrawal will be processed. If applicable, a public notice will be issued, stating that the article was withdrawn before publication.
  • If the article has already been published online, the request to withdraw may be denied, and instead, the journal may issue a correction or a retirement notice indicating the article has been withdrawn.

5. Reasons for Withdrawal

  • Some common reasons for requesting a withdrawal include:
    • The manuscript has been submitted to another journal simultaneously (i.e., duplicate submission).
    • The authors identify a significant error or flaw in the research.
    • Authors wish to revise the manuscript substantially before submitting it elsewhere.
    • Ethical issues arise, such as conflicts of interest, plagiarism, or misrepresentation of data.
    • Authors’ institutional or personal circumstances change, and they no longer wish to pursue publication in the journal.

6. Ethical Considerations in Withdrawal

  • Authors are required to notify the editorial team promptly if they wish to withdraw their manuscript. Withdrawing a manuscript after submission should be done responsibly to avoid wasting reviewer and editorial time.
  • If the manuscript has passed through a significant part of the review process, authors are expected to provide valid reasons for withdrawal, especially if ethical concerns or data issues are involved. Withdrawal should not be used as a means to avoid peer review outcomes or rejection decisions.

7. Consequences of Withdrawal

  • The journal will respect the authors’ request for withdrawal; however, depending on the timing of the withdrawal, the author may be subject to the following consequences:
    • A waiting period before the manuscript can be resubmitted to the journal, typically ranging from a few months to a year, depending on the reason for withdrawal.
    • If the withdrawal occurs after peer review and the manuscript has been accepted, authors may be required to explain their decision in future submissions to the journal.

8. Public Notification of Withdrawal

  • If an article is withdrawn after acceptance or publication, the journal may issue a formal notification that the article has been withdrawn or retracted, depending on the circumstances. This ensures transparency and maintains the integrity of the journal’s record.
  • If a manuscript is withdrawn before acceptance, no public notice will be issued.

9. Re-submission After Withdrawal

  • Authors who have withdrawn their manuscript may choose to resubmit to the Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies after addressing the reasons for withdrawal (such as revision or rework of the manuscript).
  • Any manuscript resubmitted after a withdrawal request will be treated as a new submission and must undergo the full peer review process.

10. Policy Review

  • The Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies reserves the right to review and update this policy as needed to ensure fairness, integrity, and transparency in its publishing process.
  • Any significant changes to the policy will be communicated to authors, reviewers, and stakeholders via the journal’s website and other appropriate channels.

This Withdrawal Policy ensures that the Fari Journal of Global Affairs and Security Studies upholds academic integrity while providing authors with a fair and transparent process should they wish to withdraw their manuscript from consideration.
